How do I use the floating + (Quick Create) button?

A blue + button appears in the bottom-right of every QBO dashboard, list, and report page. Click it to expand a menu of your shortcuts (default: Invoice, Expense, Bill). Cmd/Ctrl-click any shortcut to open it in a new tab. To pick which actions appear, open the QBO Cleaner popup and choose from the six slot dropdowns under "Quick Create Button" — up to six total, including "Find by Amount".

How do I find a transaction by its dollar amount?

Press Cmd+Shift+F (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+F (Windows) anywhere in QBO. A small overlay appears — type the amount (e.g. 437.50) and press Enter. You'll land on the audit log with the From/To Amount filter pre-filled, showing every transaction matching that amount. You can also pick "🔎 Find by Amount" as one of your Quick Create button slots.

How do I share my QBO Cleaner setup with another user?

Open the popup, scroll to Share Setup, and click Save Setup to File. A small qbo-cleaner-setup.json file downloads. Send it via email, Slack, or any messaging tool. The recipient opens their QBO Cleaner popup, clicks Load Setup from File, picks the file — their settings (toggles, bookmarks, Quick Create slots, email aliases, menu prefs) match yours after a quick reload.

Why are some Intuit promo banners still showing?

Open the QBO Cleaner popup. Make sure Hide Promo Banners is ON — this is the master switch. The Auto-hide sub-toggle is indented underneath it, and only takes effect when the master is on. With both on, banners disappear before you see them. If a new banner type slips through, click Re-scan Banners in the popup to force a fresh detection pass.

What does the "Workflow Polish" toggle control?

It bundles all the small UX improvements: clearer browser tab titles per page, bigger amount displays on transaction edit pages, clickable recurring transaction names, auto-focus on the Payee field for new transactions, auto-closing of "Saved!" success toasts, Cmd-click new-tab on +New menu items, the Hide Sub-Rows toggle on reports, and sticky report headers. Disable it to revert to QBO defaults.

I clicked "Hide ad" on something I want back. How do I undo?

Open the popup and click Reset Dismissed Ads. This clears the saved list of dismissals. Refresh your QBO tab and previously-hidden banners will appear again (assuming Auto-Hide is off — otherwise they'll be hidden again automatically by detection).

Some buttons aren't appearing on QuickBooks Online. What should I do?

Different features show on different pages: Print Receipt is only on  /app/billpayment, Bulk Category and Bulk Delete are inside the bill or expense edit dialog, the Hide Sub-Rows button is only on report pages. The floating + Quick Create button is hidden on transaction form pages so it doesn't fight with the form's own buttons. If something you expect is missing, refresh the page; if still missing, go to chrome://extensions and reload QBO Cleaner.

The extension stopped working after a QuickBooks update. What happened?

QuickBooks Online occasionally renames CSS classes or restructures pages, which can break individual selectors. Most QBO Cleaner features have multiple fallback selectors, so usually only one or two features are affected at a time. Make sure your extension auto-updates in Chrome — fixes typically ship within days. You can check the version in the popup header.

Is my financial data safe?

Yes. QBO Cleaner does not collect, store, or transmit any of your data. Everything happens locally in your browser. Settings are stored in  chrome.storage.sync (Google's built-in extension storage). Your QuickBooks credentials and financial information are never accessed by us. See our Privacy Policy for details.

How do I uninstall the extension?

Go to chrome://extensions in your browser, find QBO Cleaner, and click  Remove. The extension is completely uninstalled with no residual data on your machine. Your saved settings (chrome.storage.sync) are also cleared.

Does this work with QuickBooks Desktop?

No, QBO Cleaner only works with QuickBooks Online (qbo.intuit.com and  sandbox.qbo.intuit.com). It does not support QuickBooks Desktop or other Intuit products.

Troubleshooting

Extension Not Working? Try These Steps:

  1. Refresh the page — sometimes a simple refresh fixes temporary issues.
  2. Reload the extension — go to chrome://extensions, find QBO Cleaner, and click the reload icon. Then refresh your QBO tab.
  3. Check the URL — make sure you're on qbo.intuit.com (not quickbooks.intuit.com or another domain). Sandbox is supported too:  sandbox.qbo.intuit.com.
  4. Verify modules loaded — open DevTools (F12) on a QBO tab and run document.documentElement.dataset.qboCleanerLoader in the Console. It should return "1". The same works for qboCleanerAds,  qboCleanerPayments, qboCleanerPolish. If any are missing, the extension didn't load — try step 2.
  5. Check toggle dependencies — "Auto-Hide Detected Ads" only works when "Hide Promo Banners" is also on. The popup grays out the dependent toggle when its parent is off.
  6. Disable conflicting extensions — other QBO extensions (e.g., RightTool) generally coexist fine, but if a feature is acting weird, try disabling them temporarily.
  7. Clear browser cache — sometimes cached data can cause issues. Try clearing your cache and cookies for qbo.intuit.com.
  8. Reinstall the extension — as a last resort, remove and reinstall QBO Cleaner from the Chrome Web Store. Use Save Setup to File first if you want to preserve your configuration.
